Why Your Car Key Shell Looks Different From Product Photos

Product photos are helpful, but they are not a promise that every key shell will look identical in every hand, car, or lighting condition. Small differences in shell generation, button shape, camera angle, and finish can change what you see. If your key shell looks different from the example, pause before ordering and ask for review.

Product Photos Show a Style Example

The photo on a custom key shell product page shows a finished design direction. It may not show every compatible button layout, blade area, panic button placement, or rear shell shape. Two keys can look related at a glance and still use different shells.

That is why the safest approach is to compare the physical key in your hand, not just the car brand or model year. A familiar badge does not guarantee that the plastic shell shape is the same.

Lighting Changes Paint More Than People Expect

Gloss finishes reflect the room around them. Metallic and pearl finishes can look brighter under direct light and calmer in shade. A phone photo taken near a window can make a color look different from a studio shot.

Button Layout Is a Fit Detail, Not Decoration

If your key has a different number of buttons, a different button shape, or a different emergency blade position, the example may not be the right shell. Button openings are physical fit points. They cannot be ignored simply because the paint design looks correct.

Send front, back, and side photos through support if anything looks different. Support review is not automatic fit approval, but it gives us the information needed to catch obvious mismatches.

The Work Is Cosmetic, Not Mechanical Repair

Custom painting changes the shell appearance. It does not program the remote, provide blade cutting, repair electronics, replace missing internals, or solve a lost-key situation. If the key does not already function as needed, solve that separately before focusing on paint.

How to Compare Your Key Before Ordering

Lay your key next to the product image and check five areas: button count, button shape, blade position, side profile, and rear cover. If two or more areas look different, contact us before placing the order rather than hoping the shell will fit.
